How to Fix a Blurry PSD Mockup Export
A blurry mockup is almost always a size or export problem, not a problem with the PSD. Work through these checks in order.
Check list
| Cause | How to check and fix |
|---|---|
| Your artwork is too small | Open the Smart Object and check Image > Canvas Size. Use artwork at least that large, or larger. |
| You are viewing the mockup zoomed in or out | Press Ctrl+1 (Cmd+1) to see the real pixels before judging sharpness. |
| The export is too small | In File > Export > Export As, check the width and height. Export at the full size, or larger if you need it. |
| JPG quality is too low | Raise the quality slider in Export As. For product images, use a high setting. |
| You used a screenshot | Export the file instead. Screenshots lose detail. |
| Text or logo looks soft | Use a vector logo or a large transparent PNG instead of a small image. |
Do not upscale a small design
Scaling a small image up makes it look soft. If your design is low-resolution, get a larger version, or recreate it as a vector.
Check the mockup itself
If the design is large and the export is full size and still blurry, the PSD may have a small Smart Object. A well-built mockup uses a large one. If you ordered a custom mockup, ask for a larger Smart Object and it will be fixed within your revisions.
