Custom PSD Mockups vs Online Mockup Templates

By Vikas · Updated October 7, 2026

Online mockup templates, free or paid, are quick and often good enough. A custom PSD mockup is built from your own product, so it fits it exactly. Which one is better depends on what you are using it for.

When a generic template is enough

If you are testing an idea, making a quick social post or presenting a rough concept, a generic template saves time. If the mockup will sell your product, go into a client pitch or sit on a store listing, a custom one is worth the small cost.

What a custom mockup costs here

A standard custom PSD mockup is $15. If your product photo needs something removed first, it is $20. I make a watermarked sample before you pay, and you pay through PayPal only after you approve it. To learn how the file works once you have it, read the Smart Object guide.
